Find A Job and Job Training
Supported Employment Program at First Step
“What do you do?” is one of the most-often asked questions during introductions to new people. In fact, what a person does for a living is a key component of his or her identity.
If you are the parent of an adult child who has developmental disabilities, you understand well the value of learning the skills to land—and keep—a “real” job for “real” pay.
The professional job coaches involved in the Supported Employment program at First Step make it their mission to prepare your adult son or daughter for employment by teaching him or her the job skills and good work habits needed to be successful in the workplace.
We also provide continuous follow-up to ensure job satisfaction for both the employer and employee.
When the coach is no longer needed, we begin Vocational Maintenance, which involves monthly visits to the place of employment and focuses on work progress and improvement techniques that instill a sense of pride in doing “an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.” Supported Employment provides opportunity for individuals to participate in real-life experiences.
