First Step Announces 2012 Walk for Children – Chairman, Jim Randall
The First Step Foundation announced today that Realtor Jim Randall will serve as Chairperson of the 2012 First Step’s Walk for Children. 2012 will mark the third year of this annual signature event to benefit the foundation. Mr. Randall will lead the efforts by recruiting leaders from the various industries in the Hot Springs area. These leaders recruit team captains within their industry. The captains recruit teams of five to twelve walkers. Each team is asked to raise $1,000.
“I am excited about working with the First Step Foundation on the 2012 Walk for Children. I hope our work serves to raise awareness of the plight of individuals with disabilities and the role of First Step in our community,” Randall said.
Jim Randall, a former mayor of Hot Springs, is past president of the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, 50 for the Future, Hot Springs Board of Realtors and the Hot Springs Insurance Exchange. He is also a past chairman of the Garland County Economic Development Corporation. He is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Arkansas Real Estate Foundation and is a member of the Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club. Jim is the principal broker of the Jim Randall Real Estate Company. He and his wife Jane are active members of the First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs. They have one daughter and three grandchildren.
First Step’s Walk for Children is unique in that it spans a four-month time period. Walkers are asked to set a goal to walk one-hundred miles within the four months and to take pledges for miles walked. Teams may also raise their goal by sponsoring fundraising events. A Kick Off event is scheduled for May 1, 2012 with the Wrap Up set for September.
The First Step Foundation is the fundraising arm of First Step, Inc. Begun in Hot Springs in 1958, First Step serves twenty seven counties and approximately 1700 consumers. It is one of the largest organizations in Arkansas serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
